PC humbug

It's bad enough using dual pronouns, when English grammar allows masculine pronouns to represent people of unknown gender. And 'Congressperson' just sounds really dumb. But when you have an actual Congressperson on the TV screen, and it seems pretty obviously male, why on earth why can't they just say 'Congressman'?

And what's the big deal about African-Americans and Mexican-Americans and all the other Immigrant-Americans? If we really need to differentiate between ingredients in this melting pot, why can't we use some shorter words, without hyphens? I just learned today that for some reason the word 'Hispanic' is somehow offensive. What's wrong with 'Hispanic' now? Sigh...

And Beloved told me recently that now there's a law, that in harassment lawsuits, the word 'harassment' must be pronounced with emphasis on the first syllable, rather than the second. Can we get any more petty?

Time is running out for much of this. The lefties are scrambling to save what they can, but the waves of common, elite, and governmental forces that are wiping away their idealistic sandcastles are undeniable. There will be nothing left but pristine beaches of normalcy. The children of chaos too far out or unwilling to change will just drown.

If for no other reason than practical business matters ("man", "men", "guys" is shorter than "men and women", "people", "humankind", or whatever else), our language will revert back to the masculine. We have lived decades of decadence and excess, these things are passing, this time is over. Women will always have "Mom" or "Mommy", "wife", "daughter", among other titles and words with which to be known and genderalized. The intrusion into manland is nearly over.

{I made up genderalized, so don't bother letting me know about spelling, word choice, etc;)

I'd like to see the law about how 'harassment' has to be pronounced. It's probably an urban legend.

Genderalized. I like it. I'm keeping that one.

Dif, knowing Beloved, I wouldn't be surprised. But he didn't have a link to back it up.

The worst is the Bibles where they changed the words to be gender-neutral, not because it's a more accurate translation, but they just can't handle the bias in the original.

And I have a friend who is African-American - his mother's family is from Dubuque, his father from the Netherlands, and he grew up on a mission station in Kwazulu-Natal
