Cory Maye, who had no prior record, is on death row for shooting a police officer during a no-knock raid on his home, in which he had no reason to believe that the intruders were police officers. This list of information is in reverse order, but at least there aren't any posts about other topics; it's quite enough on it's own.

It surprises me this doesn't happen more often. If someone busts down my door at midnight, whether they announce themselves or not, there is a very good chance I'll end up shooting them dead. Who can even hear someone at the door in the middle of the night whilst it's being knocked off its hinges?
Gotta love that drug war, the streets are so much cleaner and the people so much safer.

That doesn't make it any less gratifying when a new visitor comes!
I think it is outrageous that a man who was clearly defending himself and his daughter from an unidentified intruder should be on death row. I'm pleased to say that Laura Denyes and few other like-minded individuals have put together a petion for Cory Maye. It is here, and I hope everyone will sign it:
